CGI Impact Windows Discontinued:
What South Florida Homeowners Need to Know
CGI Sentinel, Estate, and French door lines stopped production on October 31, 2025. Your warranty is still valid. Here's what happened, what your options are, and the best replacement brands available now.
What Happened to CGI Impact Windows?
CGI Windows & Doors was one of South Florida's most recognized impact window brands for decades. The company was acquired by MITER Brands, which also owns PGT Windows, the largest impact window manufacturer in the United States.
After the acquisition, MITER Brands evaluated overlapping product lines and made the decision to consolidate under the PGT brand. On October 31, 2025, production of the CGI Sentinel, CGI Estate, and CGI French door lines permanently ceased.
The one exception: CGI Sparta — the budget aluminum line — was retained and rebranded as PGT Sparta. If you see "PGT Sparta" at a dealer, it's the same product previously sold as CGI Sparta.

How to Replace Damaged CGI Windows
If one or more of your CGI windows is cracked, broken, or failed its seal, here's the process for getting replacements that meet Florida code:
Measure Your Existing Opening
Measure the rough opening (width × height) for the damaged unit — not the old window's glass size. Standard rough openings are 1–2 inches larger than the window unit. A contractor can do this measurement for you during a free assessment.
Identify Your Current CGI Line
Check the corner key or frame label to identify whether you have CGI Sentinel, Estate, or Sparta. This determines which replacement best matches in profile depth and appearance.
Choose a Replacement Brand
PGT WinGuard for Sentinel/Estate replacements. PGT Sparta for Sparta replacements. ESW for budget-conscious options. All are available through Windows Stock Market at wholesale pricing.
Pull Permits and Install
Any window replacement in Florida requires a permit from your county building department. Your licensed contractor handles permit applications, scheduling inspections, and ensuring code compliance. Vieser Construction manages this end-to-end.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will discontinued CGI windows still pass a wind mitigation inspection?
Yes. A wind mitigation inspection looks at what's installed, not what brand manufactured it. Your existing CGI Sentinel or Estate windows still carry their original Florida Product Approval numbers and Miami-Dade NOA certifications. Those approvals don't expire just because the product is discontinued. Your inspector will document them the same as any other certified impact window.
Should I replace all my CGI windows at once since the brand is gone?
Not necessarily. If your CGI windows are in good condition and have no seal failures, fogging, or frame damage, there's no urgent need to replace them. They still protect your home and are still insurable. Plan for replacement when they reach end of life (typically 20–30 years) or if they're damaged. If you do replace, consider doing the full home at once for aesthetic consistency and maximum insurance discount.
I'm selling my home — do CGI windows hurt the sale?
No. Buyers and home inspectors understand that brands get discontinued. What matters is whether the windows are certified impact glass, in good condition, and properly permitted. CGI Sentinel and Estate windows have the same storm protection as current brands. If a buyer's inspector or insurance company raises questions, the original Florida Product Approval (FPA) number on the window can be looked up at floridabuilding.org.
Does my insurance company know CGI was discontinued? Will my rates go up?
No — your insurance rates are based on the wind mitigation features of your home, not the brand of windows you have. A licensed wind mitigation inspector verifies that you have impact glass in your openings; the brand name doesn't affect the rating. CGI discontinuation has no effect on your homeowners insurance premium.
